The Authors' reply We thank Caballero-Borrego and coworkers for their comment.1 Our conclusion that gender does not appear to be an independent risk factor in aortic valve replacement (AVR) for isolated severe aortic stenosis (AS)2 is in agreement with their study.3 This has also been shown by other investigators.4 5 Kulik and colleagues5 even reported a better long-term survival of women following bioprosthetic AVR.
