ASSA13-13-10 Establishment of Animal Model For Unloading the Infarcted Rat Hearts

Abstract

Objective To create a model of minicking VAD by unloading rats with HF (heart failure) after ischemic cardiomyopathy in rats.

Methods Heart failure (HF) after ischemic cardiomyopathy was established in 29 adult lewis rats by ligating the middle-distal 1/3 segment of left anterior discending artery. Rats with HF after coronary artery ligation were unloaded by heterotopic cardiac transplantation for 2 weeks.

Results The rate of heart failure after ischemic cardiomyopathy successfully was 82.76% (24/29). The rate of the unloading the rats with HF after coronary artery ligation successfully was 71.43% (20/24). The cardiac function indicated by LVEDP and ± dp/dtmax increased.

Conclusions We established a model mimicking partially the Left Venticular assist Device (LVAD). The infarcted cardiac function could be improved by unloading.
