Abstract

Objectives To explore the effect on rats with metabolic syndromes (MS) taking pioglitazone and fenofibrate.

Methods Building a SD rat model of metabolic syndrome (MS) with feeding high-fructose diet, by intervention with single PPAR-α/γagonists FEN, PIO or combined both. Analyse the differences between expression indicators of PPAR-α, PPAR-γ in those MS rats.

Results Expression levels of PPAR-αmRNA, PPAR-γmRNA and protein in the rat aorta were reducing compared with the MC group intervention with FEN and PIO. Intervention combined with FEN and PIO, the expression levels of PPAR-αmRNA and protein were reduced more obviously compared the drugs alone, PPAR-γmRNA and protein expression were similar to intervention with PIO.

Conclusions Intervention of FEN, PIO and combination both, the MS rat aortic expression of PPAR-α/γ were significantly inhibited. Combination were more significantly inhibited the expression of PPAR-α than alone.
