I read with interest the review presented by Asrress et al in your series ‘Education in Heart’.1 I was disappointed to find figure 1 representing a spurious concept of development. Although the concept is to be found in many textbooks of cardiac embryology, it is not necessarily correct. Asrress et al go part way to explaining its deficiency when they state “Infolding of the atrial wall on the right aspect of the septum primum produces the septum secundum”.
