    Citation Excerpt :

Women with single ventricles and a Fontan procedure have pregnancies that are associated with preterm deliveries, SGA babies, high NICU admission, and high rates of cesarean deliveries. This is congruent with the growing body of literature that has studied the maternal, neonatal, and obstetric outcomes of pregnancies in women who have a Fontan circulation.2–4,8,11,33–38 Although the higher prevalence of miscarriages and adverse outcomes in these pregnancies has been reported by other studies, there is still a gap in our understanding of how cardiac function throughout gestation relates to these outcomes.
