(−)-Epicatechin inhibits development of dilated cardiomyopathy in δ sarcoglycan null mouse
2018, Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular DiseasesCitation Excerpt :This complex confers a structural link between the extracellular matrix and the cytoskeleton muscle cells and is thought to protect muscle cells from contraction-induced damage [17]. The tetrameric unit of α, β, γ, δ sarcoglycans (SG) and the tetraspanin sarcospan (SSPN), constitute a sub-complex of the DAPC present in skeletal and cardiac muscle [13,18,19]. In contrast, β-, δ-, and ε-SG (an α-SG homolog), along with SSPN, are additionally expressed in smooth muscle cells [20].
