Prognostic significance of circadian variability of RR and QT intervals and QT dynamicity in patients with chronic heart failure
2007, Heart RhythmCitation Excerpt :The underlying basis of QT prolongation in CHF patients seems to be multifactorial, and it is not only a marker of the instability of the ventricular repolarization but also a reflection of the severity of heart failure. Abnormalities in the rate-dependent behavior of the QT interval are widely described in the diseased heart.27–30 The present study shows that patients who die of cardiac causes show steeper QT/RR slopes compared with survivors, which is consistent with previous reports on post–myocardial infarction patients.30
Increased myocardial vulnerability and autonomic nervous system imbalance in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome
2007, Respiratory MedicineCitation Excerpt :Since QT dynamicity reflects electrophysiological properties of ventricular myocytes in addition to ANS, it is believed that it carries additional prognostic value compared to HRV.17 Several studies indicate that malignant ventricular arrhythmias and death may be associated with QT dynamics.18,19 Chevalier et al.20 showed that steeper slope of the QT/RR relationship was related to increased mortality after myocardial infarction.
QT dynamics in risk stratification after myocardial infarction
2005, Heart RhythmObstructive sleep apnea is associated with increased QT corrected interval dispersion: the effects of continuous positive airway pressure
2018, Brazilian Journal of OtorhinolaryngologyCitation Excerpt :In the present study, Bazett's index was used to calculate the QTcd.20 Extramiana et al. suggested that β-blocker therapy could reduce the QT rate, depending on the daily modulation.29 It was also showed that the rate of ventricular repolarization affected the sympathetic nervous system, either directly or indirectly.29
