Fatal cerebral hemorrhage and severe thrombocytopenia during abciximab treatment

Catheter Cardiovasc Interv. 2000 Feb;49(2):177-80. doi: 10.1002/(sici)1522-726x(200002)49:2<177::aid-ccd13>3.0.co;2-j.

Abstract

We describe the case of a fatal cerebral hemorrhage associated with a severe thrombocytopenia (4.0 x 10(9)/l), occurring only 90 min after starting treatment with abciximab, in a patient undergoing primary percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) for an acute myocardial infarction.
