To the Editor I read with interest the recent paper by Kim and coauthors on ‘Mild-to-moderate functional tricuspid regurgitation in patients undergoing valve replacement for rheumatic mitral valve (MV) disease’.1 The authors, reporting on 236 patients divided into two groups, concluded that, compared with MV replacement alone, concomitant tricuspid valve (TV) repair was associated with better postoperative TV function that may help to improve long-term clinical outcomes. The authors should be congratulated on their work, which added more insight into the treatment of this pathology.
