  • Cardiovascular risk factors are considered controlled when at the following target levels: systolic blood pressure <140 mm Hg, diastolic blood pressure <90 mm Hg, glycaemia <1.1 g/l, total cholesterol <2.0 g/l, non-smoking; ‘good control’, 3-5 risk factors at target; ‘poor control’, 0–2 risk factors at target.
