After IP, a reduction of THF during the second hyperemia occurred (see Materials and methods), probably accompanied by reduced myocardial oxygen demand [38] and decreased mitochondrial matrix Ca2+ increase [39], both of which would mediate against activation. The current work indicates that, whatever the primary signal, the factor directly responsible for modulating the ATP synthase capacity is IF1.
