Recorded heart sounds for identification of ventricular tachycardia
2008, ResuscitationCitation Excerpt :In patients with coronary artery disease, often the underlying substrate of VT, the fall in coronary perfusion pressure with tachycardia may trigger myocardial ischemia. However, even at rapid rates, the absence of syncope or hypotension does not provide assurance that a wide-complex tachycardia is SVT with aberrant ventricular conduction, rather than VT.10,11 A reason for this is that whether or not VT is associated with hypotension depends greatly on the patient's pre-existing ventricular function.9,12,13 Therefore, parameters for detecting more subtle manifestations of hemodynamic impairment would be desirable.
