However, relentless LVH in the face of gradually increasing pressure overload has adverse consequences, including impaired coronary blood-flow reserve by reduced capillary density in the hypertrophied myocardium [77], relative functional coronary stenosis [78], and attenuated endocardial blood flow engendered by increased filling pressures needed to distend a thickened and stiff LV [79]. Additionally, pathologic LVH is accompanied by increased LV stiffness and diastolic dysfunction [80,81].
