Univentricular hearts not undergoing Fontan: the type of palliation matters
2024, Revista Espanola de CardiologiaEASL-ERN position paper on liver involvement in patients with Fontan-type circulation

2022, Annals of Thoracic SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Conversely, Franklin and colleagues12 reported that patients with DILV demonstrated far less favorable survival with only 62% and 45% surviving to 5 years of age when treated with only a systemic-to-pulmonary artery shunt or pulmonary artery banding, respectively. Moodie and associates20 also reviewed 84 patients with a variety of single ventricle lesions receiving palliation. For the 44 patients with DILV, 5-year survival was 68% and 72% for those receiving pulmonary artery banding or a systemic-to-pulmonary artery shunt, respectively.
Anaesthetic implications of congenital heart disease for children undergoing non-cardiac surgery
2009, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care MedicineCitation Excerpt :Necrosis and progressive fibrosis extending into the conduction system is thought to be the cause of late-onset arrhythmias. Arrhythmias leading to death arise in up to 30% of patients with single-ventricle circulations.3 Children who have undergone a repair of tetralogy of Fallot are at increased risk of sudden death or sustained ventricular tachycardia.
