Although studies have shown larger aorta dimensions in strength athletes, all the studies have found that the ascending aorta rarely dilated beyond the upper limits of normal in trained athletes.10 Our data describing left atrial structure are consistent with existing evidence that exercise training leads to significant enlargement that is largely in parallel with ventricular remodeling.11
