Trends in atrial flutter and atrial tachycardia research
2017, Informatics in Medicine UnlockedCitation Excerpt :However, recurrence after ablation can occur [8]. When atrial tachycardia occurs, it is often incessant and can lead to heart failure, particularly in pediatric patients [9–12]. Yet, this arrhythmia can also be asymptomatic and therefore may not be readily diagnosed [13].
Thoracoscopic resection of the left atrial appendage after failed focal atrial tachycardia ablation
2014, Annals of Thoracic SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Incomplete ablation of foci in thick pectinate muscle can lead to unsuccessful ablation, and the intervening thin walls of the LAA make it susceptible to perforation [7, 13]. Prior to the advent of catheter-based ablation, surgical therapy for focal AT originating from various atrial sites was more commonly performed [14–17]. Radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, and left atrial isolation have all been described as components of surgery for focal AT, with the specific technique depending on the location and number of ectopic foci [6, 8, 18].
Nonseptal right atrial aneurysm: case report and review of literature
2010, Cardiovascular PathologyCitation Excerpt :The identification of an unusual nonseptal right atrial aneurysm (NSRAA) which appeared to be an acquired aneurysmal dilatation of an area of the trabeculated right atrium termed the subeustachian sinus prompted our review of the English medical literature. The clinicopathologic features of the current and the 35 reported cases of NSRAA are listed in Table 1 [2–34]. NSRAA has been reported to occur from 1 day to 75 years of age.
