Antithrombotic and thrombolytic therapy for valvular disease: Antithrombotic therapy and prevention of thrombosis, 9th ed: American college of chest physicians evidence-based clinical practice guidelines
2012, ChestCitation Excerpt :Silaruks et al31 have demonstrated that 24.2% of left atrial thrombi will resolve within 6 months of anticoagulation. Further, Kang et al32 have demonstrated that after thrombus resolution, PMBV can be safely performed. Predictors of thrombus resolution are New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class II or better, left atrial appendage thrombus size ≤ 1.6 cm2, less dense spontaneous echocardiographic contrast, and an INR ≥ 2.5.
Valvular and structural heart disease: American College of Chest Physicians evidence-based clinical practice guidelines (8th edition)
2008, ChestCitation Excerpt :No patient had an embolism in the immediate postprocedure period or during a median follow-up of 3 months. Kang et al54 reported on 49 patients with mitral stenosis with left atrial appendage thrombi who were otherwise candidates for PMBV.54 Twenty-five patients underwent PMBV after being treated with warfarin to achieve an INR of 2.0 to 3.0.
Antithrombotic therapy in valvular heart disease - Native and prosthetic: The Seventh ACCP Conference on Antithrombotic and Thrombolytic Therapy
2004, ChestCitation Excerpt :Indeed, one can make a good case for anticoagulation therapy in most patients after balloon mitral valvuloplasty for at least 4 weeks.41 Kang et al43 reported on 49 patients with mitral stenosis with left atrial appendage thrombi who were otherwise candidates for percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty (PMV).43 Twenty-five patients underwent PMV after being treated with warfarin to achieve an INR of 2.0 to 3.0.

2001, ChestCitation Excerpt :Indeed, one can make a goodcase for giving anticoagulation therapy to most patients after balloonmitral valvuloplasty for at least 4 weeks.30 Interestingly, Kang et al32 reported on 49 patients withmitral stenosis with left atrial appendage thrombi who were otherwisecandidates for percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty (PMV).32 Twenty-five patients underwent PMV after being treated with warfarin toachieve an INR of 2.0 to 3.0.
