A recent study utilizing a high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) assay in a stable coronary artery disease (CAD) population indicated that > 10% of participants had elevations above the 99th percentile [1]. However, few data exist exploring the role of hs-cTnI in this setting. Schulz et al. begin to describe the performance of a pre-commercial hs-cTnI assay in a smaller population of patients (n = 222) with stable cardiovascular disease [2]. 2017, American Journal of MedicineCitation Excerpt :Risk scores have been shown to perform poorly when they are applied in a population who is not comparable to the original derivation cohort and when the baseline risk of the populations differs.31-33 In contrast, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T has proved to be an excellent prognostic performance in other low-risk cohorts,34-36 in chronic heart failure,5 in asymptomatic high-risk patients,8 and in the general population.37-39 Therefore, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T seems to be a more reliable risk predictor that may be applied in a broad spectrum of patients.
