Complications during catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation: identification and prevention

Heart Rhythm. 2009 Dec;6(12 Suppl):S18-25. doi: 10.1016/j.hrthm.2009.07.025. Epub 2009 Oct 23.

Abstract

Complications are inherent to any invasive procedure. The list of complications associated with catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation has steadily increased with the increase in complexity and the number of procedures performed over the years. This review focuses on strategies for prevention, and techniques for rapid detection and management of these complications.
