Disease burden of cardiovascular disease in the elderly

Coron Artery Dis. 1997 Oct;8(10):667-9. doi: 10.1097/00019501-199710000-00010.

Abstract

The factors which have led to a dramatic increase in the numbers of the elderly and the impact of this ageing population on health care resources is discussed. The importance of looking at the total disease burden of a particular disorder rather than just its mortality rate is emphasized, particularly in regard to cardiovascular disease.
