Abstract

Objectives To investigate the characteristic of blood pressre and its circadian rhythm in chronic kidney disease patients.

Methods Clinical data of patients who underwent 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring from 2011 to 2013 in Department of Nephrology of the Third Xiangya Hospital were collected and analysed.

Results In the 252 Chronic kidney disease (CKD) with hypertensive patients, there were 83.02% non-dippers and reverse dippers. With the decline of creatinine clearance, compared with mild CKD patients, the rate of nocturnal blood pressure fall in moderate to severe CKD patients was more significant (P < 0.001). Even in CKD with normal blood pressure patients (n = 56), there were 71.4% non-dippers and reverse dippers.

Conclusions The blood pressre rhythm disorders such as non-dippers and reverse dippers are very common in CKD patients.
